I stopped answering work messages after 6 p.m. My team says I’m not a team player.
I work hard during my scheduled hours and get my work done. But our team chat keeps going well into the evening, and I’ve started leaving those messages until the next workday.
There’s no on-call requirement in my role. My manager hasn’t complained, but two teammates say they’re picking up the slack because they respond at night. I told them they shouldn’t have to do that either.
Is setting this boundary fair, or am I leaving my team in a difficult position?
