I ordered a salad. Everyone else ordered steak. Am I wrong for not splitting the bill evenly?

At a group dinner, I ordered a small salad and water. The others ordered full meals and several drinks. At the end, someone suggested splitting the bill equally.

I said I’d pay for what I ordered, plus my share of tax and tip. A friend called it petty and said a night out isn’t the time to count dollars.

Nobody agreed on splitting the bill beforehand. Should I have just gone along with it?
